Gameboy Color non oem Pokemon Green video game cartridge. Game cartridge comes with a plastic protective case just like the picture shows.
Pokémon Green is the original 1996 Japanese role-playing game that launched the Pokémon franchise alongside Pokémon Red. While many players associate "Green" with the Game Boy Color due to its name, it was originally developed for the Game Boy and is officially a Japanese-exclusive title, though this copy is a full English translation.
Key Features and Origins
- Release and Platform: Released on February 27, 1996, in Japan for the original Game Boy. It is enhanced for the Super Game Boy but does not have a native Game Boy Color version.
- Mascot: Features Venusaur on the cover, serving as the counterpart to Pokémon Red's Charizard.
- Core Gameplay: Established the series standard of traveling through the Kanto region, battling eight Gym Leaders, and catching 151 Pokémon.
- Exclusive Pokémon: Just like later paired versions, certain Pokémon (such as Sandshrew, Vulpix, and Meowth) are exclusive to Green and require trading via Link Cable to complete the Pokédex in Red.
Differences from International Versions
- International Equivalent: When Pokémon was localized for the West in 1998, the content of Pokémon Green was essentially merged into the international Pokémon Blue.
- Visuals: The original Japanese Green is famous for its "unrefined" sprites, which were later updated in the Japanese Pokémon Blue and subsequently used for the international Red and Blue releases.
